1. Overview
AlcoTool is designed with privacy as a core principle. All data is stored locally on your device. The App does not use accounts, does not transmit personal data to servers, and does not share data with third parties.
2. Data Stored on Your Device
All data you enter into the App is stored locally using Apple's SwiftData framework. It remains on your device unless you explicitly export or delete it.
2.1 Profile information
You may optionally provide the following information:
| Data | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Weight (kg) | Used to personalise drink tracking insights |
| Biological sex | Used to personalise app experience |
| Date of birth | Used for age-related settings and eligibility checks |
| Daily unit target | Progress tracking and summaries |
| Consumption goal | Personal tracking reference |
All profile fields are optional unless required for specific features. If not provided, default values may be used for general tracking functionality.
2.2 Drink logs
Each drink you log may include:
| Data | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Timestamp | History and tracking |
| Drink category | Organisation and display |
| Volume (mL) | Used for consumption totals |
| ABV (%) | Used for strength-based tracking |
| Stomach fullness | Personalised tracking input |
| Finish time (optional) | Session tracking |
| Location (optional) | Personal note only |
| Notes (optional) | Personal reference |
| Custom name (Premium) | User-defined label |
2.3 Sober day tracking
The App stores whether a day has been marked as alcohol-free to support streak and habit tracking features.
2.4 App preferences
Settings such as dashboard layout and display preferences are stored locally using iOS UserDefaults.
2.5 Widget data
A small subset of locally stored data (daily drink totals, weekly consumption summary, and streak information) is shared with iOS widgets via an App Group container to enable Home Screen display features.
All widget data remains on your device and is not transmitted externally.
3. Data We Do Not Collect
- No accounts or sign-in systems are used
- No analytics or tracking SDKs are included
- No advertising identifiers or cookies are used
- No data is transmitted to external servers
- No data is shared with third parties
4. Notifications
If enabled, notifications are generated and delivered locally on your device. No notification data is sent to external servers.
You can disable notifications at any time in iOS Settings.
5. In-App Purchases
Subscription purchases are handled entirely by Apple via StoreKit. The developer does not receive or store any payment information.
6. Data Retention and Deletion
All data remains on your device until you delete it manually or uninstall the App. Uninstalling the App removes all stored data.
7. CSV Export (Premium)
Premium users may export their drink history via CSV using the iOS share sheet. Exported files are handled entirely by the user and are not stored or accessed by the developer.
8. Children's Privacy
AlcoTool is intended for users of legal drinking age (18+ in the UK). The App is not directed at children under 13, and no data is knowingly collected from them.
9. Third-Party Services
The App uses only Apple-provided frameworks:
| Framework | Purpose |
|---|---|
| SwiftData | Local data storage |
| StoreKit | In-app purchases |
| UserNotifications | Local notifications |
| WidgetKit | Home Screen widgets |
No third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking tools are used.
10. Data Security
Data is stored using Apple's built-in encryption and file protection. When the device is locked, data is protected using iOS data protection mechanisms.
11. Your Rights
Because all data is stored locally on your device, you control all personal data directly within the App:
- View and edit all stored data within the App
- Delete individual entries at any time
- Export data using CSV export (Premium)
- Delete all data by uninstalling the App
12. Changes to This Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. Any material changes will be communicated via App Store update notes or in-app notice.
